The City Rings

Sonic Postcards – Hailuoto

Listening the recordings, sonic snaps and post cards from the other schools of the City Rings Project.

Glenn Boulter from Octopus Collective Cumbria, UK joined us this time as he is visiting the island, So we had 3 working teams this time to make our sonic postcards.

Wonderful field recordings !!! The ice cream van and what else can you possibly hear what makes our world not silent?

This piece is made of field recordings recorded by students individually and then cut and edited in Amadeus Sound Editor and then used for composing in Cycling 74 software Radial.

Composition worked with Garage Band with field recordings combining fragile and violent sounds.

5W really liked the Finnish postcards and thought they were very different to the postcard from Braga! They found them unusual, but thought that they told a story.

Issac found your first postcard relaxing. We talked about how ice cream vans sound very different in the UK!

In the second postcard we thought we could make out the sound of the goat near the end.

We looked at Glenn’s photo of Hailuoto – it looks very different to Enfield!
